01How long does setup take?
About sixty seconds. The dashboard wizard asks four questions: what kind of server you run, a short paragraph about it, the tone and language you want the bot to use, and an optional channel of past tickets or files to learn from. The AI is useful the moment you save the wizard. Everything else (panels, moderation rules, claims, escalations) can be configured later as you need it.
02What if my server has no past tickets to learn from?
The AI works on day one. Your About paragraph and any FAQ documents you paste or upload during setup become its initial knowledge base. From there, every resolved ticket feeds back into the brain automatically, so accuracy compounds the longer you run it. Communities with no historical data still see useful replies within the first hour of use.
03Can I migrate transcripts from another ticket bot?
Yes. If you have transcripts saved by Ticket Tool, Tickety, Helper, or any HTML, Markdown, or text exporter, point Vanta at the channel containing them. The auto-learn job ingests every message and attachment, parses the conversation structure, and turns the content into searchable knowledge tagged by your server. Months of resolved tickets become useful context in minutes.
04Is my server data private? Do you train AI models on it?
Cross-server isolation is enforced at the database layer. Every row of knowledge carries your server ID, and every retrieval query filters by it. Automated tests verify that a chunk from one server can never appear in another server’s results. Our upstream AI providers operate under contract terms that prohibit training their foundation models on customer prompts or knowledge. You can delete any knowledge chunk from the dashboard at any time, and full sub-processor disclosure is in our Data Processing Agreement.
05What is a credit, and how many do I need?
Credits track what the AI actually does. A real answer is 1 credit, or 2 when a hard question is routed to the deeper model. Lightweight replies (greetings, off-topic redirects, and handoffs to staff) are pooled at just 1 credit per 3. Repeat questions served from cache, banned topics, and a plain "thanks" cost nothing. Typical small communities use 500 to 1,500 credits a month, so the 2,500 on Pro covers them with headroom.
06What happens when I run out of credits?
The bot stops sending AI replies for that server until your next monthly reset. It never charges you automatically. You can wait for the cycle, buy a one-time credit pack from your dashboard ($4 for 1,000, $15 for 5,000, $60 for 25,000), or upgrade your plan. Non-AI features like manual tickets, panels, transcripts, and rule-based moderation keep working without interruption.
07What if the AI gets an answer wrong?
Every draft includes a confidence score from 0 to 1. If it falls below your threshold (default 0.70), the bot does not send the reply. It posts the draft in your admin review channel with Approve, Edit, and Reject buttons. Above the threshold, the reply ships, and every answer is logged in your dashboard decision log with the exact knowledge chunks it used and its confidence score, so you can audit any answer and correct stale sources.
08What if a member tries to abuse the AI for off-topic questions?
Off-topic questions get a short "I can only help with topics in this server" redirect, and those lightweight replies are pooled at just 1 credit per 3, so abuse can never burn credits one-for-one. Banned topics are blocked before any model call for zero credits. Homework, recipes, code generation, and general chatbot use are turned away at the knowledge gate, not answered.
09What Discord permissions does the bot need?
Only the minimum needed for tickets, moderation, and AI replies: view and send messages, create ticket channels, manage roles for ticket access, delete messages for moderation, time out, kick, or ban offenders, and view your server’s audit log. We deliberately do not request Administrator, Manage Server, or Manage Webhooks. The full permission bitfield is published before you install.
10Can the bot run under my brand instead of yours?
Yes, on Premium. You create your own Discord application in the Developer Portal, paste the three identifiers into our onboarding wizard, and we run it on our infrastructure. To everyone in your server the bot looks fully yours: your name, your avatar, your status. We never appear inside Discord. Your bot token is encrypted at rest, decrypted only in memory when the bot connects, and never written to logs.
11Does it work for non-English servers?
Yes. Language is a per-server setting. The bot replies in whatever language you configure, with the tone, banned topics, and custom rules you set. The same engine produces completely different output for a French gaming community, a Spanish education server, and a Japanese commerce server. Premium adds per-channel tone overrides if you want a more formal voice in support channels than in general chat.
12Can I cancel anytime?
Yes. Cancellation is one click on your billing page. Your plan stays active until the end of the current billing period, then drops back to Free. No prorated refunds, but no surprise charges either. Your knowledge base, configuration, and historical data stay intact in case you ever upgrade again.
